Dadra, a rhythmic cycle of 6 beats, is a popular taal in Indian semi-classical, light, and folk music.
Given below is the theka (basic definition) of this taal. The taal has two equally spaced internal divisions (vibhag) which implies that a pulse can be felt after every three beats. The major pulse (sam; first beat) occurs after every 6 beats and the minor pulse at the fourth beat is a khali.
